Encouraged by the Light

Encouraged by the Light carries you through a death experience, assists you in its interpretation, familiarizes you with the pros and cons, allowing you to determine what you believe regarding near-death experiences (NDEs.)

In doing so, Encouraged by the Light supplies both subjective and objective viewpoints. The subjective is Christian, including Bible passages. The objective is religiously neutral—inoffensive to followers of other religions, and thereby, a tool for many.

The book discusses NDE elements as logical near-proofs (satori) of a Superior Being, a return to a simple relationship with him, the necessities of faith, and the constitution of the individual—mind, body, spirit—all for your decision making benefit.

As the book title states, the NDE enables, empowers, and encourages John Edwards and his wife, Sharon, through a lifetime of faith, Christian service, and missionary work—like returning the Russian manner of publishing Bibles to the people of Russia.

The participation of John’s academically strong, missionary friends; combine with the couple’s extensive publishing career; to formulate a light, intelligent, understandable, and easy “read” with clear explanations, all within the covers of a self-published book of the highest standards, containing the insight of forty-five years of reflection.

Chapter one was a little slow going, not difficult, just laying the groundwork for different subjects. From chapter two on, I read through in one sitting, so that’s saying something!… The last chapter was interesting and well argued. It was very philosophical, but by having it there, it made the book more than just a story for people to believe or ignore.

I was very impressed, actually, at how easy it was to read. There were a few digressions but not so that it interfered with the flow, and you did a good job of bringing it back to the point you were making. —My oldest daughter, Laura
