Samenvatting
Health, Safety and Ergonomics presents the proceedings of the international symposium entitled ""Workwise Ergonomics, Health and Safety"" held on 1 October 1987. In order to make this book a more complete account of the part ergonomics has to play in the improvement of working conditions, further information has been incorporated into a number of the papers and three extra chapters have been added. The reader will find that some topics are addressed in more than one chapter but that any overlap is complementary and necessary if the section were to be read in isolation.
This book is divided into four parts, with Part 1 discussing the role of ergonomics, including the advantages of ergonomics intervention, the contribution of ergonomics to present and future industrial safety and health, and a European perspective on ergonomics and health and safety. Part 2 focuses on the operator in the system, with discussions on assessment and prediction of human reliability, hazard awareness and risk perception, and workplace accidents. Part 3 discusses user-centred design from an ergonomist's viewpoint and the ergonomics of protection, while Part 4 presents perspectives on current issues.
This book will be of interest to practitioners in the fields of ergonomics research, production engineering, and health and safety.
