Oud-advocaat en fiets-afficionado-voor-het-leven Robert Penn beschrijft de zoektocht naar zijn ideale - samengestelde - racefiets. Tijdens zijn bezoeken aan diverse specialisten in afzonderlijke fietsonderdelen (wielen, spaken, frames enz) kijken we over de schouder van de Brit mee in de werkplaatsen van die mechaniciens. Leuk boek voor wielrenners die ook voor top of the bill gaan, want Penn gaat in zijn keuzes niet bepaald over één nacht ijs, maar aan de opstap-pedaleur zal veel gespuide kennis nog niet zijn besteed.
