Een vlot leesbaar boek zonder te academisch te worden. Ik heb er veel van opgestoken en ik moet toegeven dat ik onderschat had hoeveel invloed het Byzantijnse rijk heeft gehad op onze geschiedenis. Het boek maakt hierdoor zijn belofte helemaal waar. De drukkwaliteit is uitstekend, enkel de cover verliest zijn kleur bijna direct aan de randen.
