    Het boek beschrijft een voor mij redelijk onbekende, maar recente en dichtbije oorlog. Op een manier die begint als een mooi zomerverhaal, maar langzaam toegaat naar heftige gebeurtenissen uit de oorlog en de impact die dat enkele jaren daarna nog heeft . De manier van schrijven van Forna is filmend, alsof ik er bij sta en het allemaal zie gebeuren. Ik werd compleet meegezogen in het boek.
