Samenvatting

- contains rare illustrations and photographs;
- includes a functional table of contents.
“What Nietzsche Taught” is for the beginner—for the student who desires a survey of Friedrich Nietzsche’s philosophy before entering upon a closer and more careful study of it.
It is the errors which have arisen from the vicious and inept dissemination of his teachings, that Willard H. Wright has striven to rectify in the present book. The Author has hoped to accomplish this by presenting the whole of Nietzsche’s philosophy, as far as possible, in Nietzsche’s own words. Nietzschean thought developed consistently and logically in straight-away, chronological order so that at the conclusion of each book we find ourselves just so much further along the route of his thinking.
The Author has taken Nietzsche’s writings chronologically, beginning with his first book—“Human, All-Too-Human”—and has set down every important conclusion throughout the entire works. In this way one may follow Nietzsche throughout every step in the development of his teachings—not only in his abstract theories but also in his application of them.
The Author has preceded each chapter with a short account of the book and its contents. In these brief essays, each book has been reviewed, set down the circumstances under which it was written, and attempted to weigh its individual importance in relation to the others. “What Nietzsche Taught” draws on the following works:
- “Human, All-Too-Human”
- “The Dawn of Day”
- “The Joyful Wisdom”
- “Thus Spake Zarathustra”
- “The Eternal Recurrence”
- “Beyond Good and Evil”
- “The Genealogy of Morals”
- “The Twilight of the Idols”
- “The Antichrist”
- “The Will to Power” Vol. I and II.
The book also contains the Introduction, Nietzsche’s Biographical Sketch, Bibliography, and the Editor's note “About the Author.”
It's a gorgeous book. Buy with confidence!
