"You would think being a top model, the first black British model to the become the cover of American Elle, attending shoots with Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Elle McPherson among others in Milan, Paris,and Rome, would be a dream life. Not so, tired of prancing around in front of a camera modelling and not being allowed to speak, Lorraine wanted a new career - as a chef.
Never doing things by halves, she enrolled at the world-famous Leith's School of Food and Wine, worked in a string of top restaurants, culminating in a spell in the US with Peggy Porscher, cake decorator to the stars.
In line with her adventurous spirit, Lorraine spent two months on a culinary trip around Asia, inspired by Anthony Bourdain's ""a cook's tour"", visiting Cambodia, Thailand and Laos, and snacking daily on deep-fried cockroaches and spiders! Before returning to proper English fare in the UK, she worked in a 5-star boutique hotel in Sri Lanka, setting up the kitchen from scratch and training the chefs. Lorraine has journeyed from the pampered life of a model, to the gruelling life of a chef and hasn't looked back since.
