Jon Lee Anderson is the author of  The Fall of Baghdad,  Guerrillas,  The Lion's Grave, and  Che Guevara: A Revolutionary Life. His reporting led to the discovery of Che's skeletal remains thirty years after their secret burial in Bolivia. He is a  New Yorker staff writer, and has reported frequently from Latin America and from war zones around the world. Anderson has written profiles of Augusto Pinochet, Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, and Gabriel García Márquez. He is at work on a book about Fidel Castro and modern Cuba.

    Geschreven bij Che Guevara Revolutionary Life

    Dit is een briljante biografie van een van de meest complexe en boeiende karakters van de twintigste eeuw. Che's leven wordt ontleed in de kleinste details, van zijn astmatische kindertijd tot zijn moord in de Boliviaanse jungle op de leeftijd van 39.

    Veel van wat wordt geschreven over Che is ideologisch gedreven, in een poging om ofwel te vergoddelijken of de Argentijnse revolutionaire demoniseren. Tot zijn krediet, is Anderson er in geslaagt het behoud van een rationele benadering van zijn onderwerp, waardoor dit boek tegelijk leesbaar is voor vrienden en vijanden van Che.

    Che was de ultieme revolutionaire icoon van zijn tijd. Het lezen van dit boek gaf mij enig begrip voor de man, die bestond achter de mythe. Als ik 10 sterren kon geven was dit zeker op ze plek geweest! Een brilliant geschreven biografie!
