Dit boek van Stearns heb ik gebruikt voor mijn studie in de sociale wetenschappen. Het is erg leerzaam en geeft een mooi en uitgebreid overzicht van 'childhood' in verschillende tijdperken, maar ook in verschillende culturen en godsdiensten. Af en toe is het wat droge stof, maar voor de opleiding was het boek erg goed bruikbaar.
