David Foster Wallace

David Foster Wallace (1962-2008) geldt als een van de meest getalenteerde en opwindende auteurs van zijn generatie. Hij gaf zijn tenniscarrière op voor een fulltime bestaan als schrijver. Zijn oeuvre omvat naast zijn romandebuut De bezem van het systeem (1989) en de kapitale, meesterlijke roman Infinite Jest (1996) onder meer de verhalenbundel Girl with Curious Hair (1989) en essaybundels als Consider the Lobster (2005).Wallace won onder andere de MacArthur Foundation ‘genius’ Award, de National Magazine Award en de Paris Review Prize for Humor Writing. Bij Meulenhoff verschenen Superleuk, maar voortaan zonder mij, de verhalenbundel Korte gesprekken met afgrijselijke mannen en zijn postuum verschenen roman De bleke koning.
