Onyx & Ivory is een verfrissende kijk op het YA fantasy genre. Je hebt geen idee waar het verhaal je mee naartoe neemt. Het komt traag op gang maar heeft een goede worldbuilding die mij deed denken aan The Remnant Chronicles. Het magiesysteem dat Arnett beschrijft is vernieuwend en interessant. Kortom echt een aanrader om te lezen. Ik kijk uit naar het vervolg shadow & flame.
