Andrew Lang was a British literary critic, poet, novelist, translator and historian. He was a professor of Scotland St. Andrews University. is a Japanese fairy tale collected by him. Japanese fairy tales are often full of wise and sobriety. There were two brothers, the rich one and the poor one. On the Christmas Eve the poor one asked his brother to give him something for a Christmas table because he had nothing to eat. The rich one gave him a whole ham but asked him to go to Dead Man’s Hall. The poor one agreed and started his journey. Later on he found the place he needed and there he met a wise old man who told him to change the ham to the hand-mill and described how to stop the mill. The poor man entered the Hall and did everything he was told to do and got the hand-mill. But it was a magical mill that could craft everything you want: meat, beer and etc. So the poor one gave a huge feast and his brother became angry and jealous. He asked the poor brother to sell the hand-mill. But what happened next? Read the story to find out.
