This book provides an answer to that question, as Schrijvers combines more than 500 studies from the sixties until mid August 2016 with many years worth of personal experience with integrated care. The author distinguishes six dimensions of integrated care: type, patient as partner, quality of care, payment, e-health and change management. Each item is thoroughly analysed and described. His answer to the question? Yes, it is possible, but there is still a long way to go. An electronic attachment with a selection of examples of integrated care from the Netherlands and other countries has also been added to this book. This book is a must-read for everyone who wants cooperation in healthcare: professionals, patient representatives, directors, innovators, policy-makers, students and their teachers. Guus Schrijvers is health economist and professor emeritus of Public Health (1987 -2012) at the University Medical Center Utrecht. He is founder and Chair of the International Foundation of Integrated Care. For many years, he was editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Integrated Care. He has published hundreds of scientific papers and books.
